Arthur Accused
Published in Paperback by Little Brown and Company (September, 1998)
Author: Marc Tolon Brown
Average review score:

Great Synthesis of Mystery and Comedy
(Cue detective-style voice) Let me tell you about a book. It's a very ordinary kind of book, the kind with both a front cover, a back cover and pages in between. The kind of book in which anything can happen - and usually does. (End detective-style voice)

Generally, when you pick up an "Arthur" chapter book, you can rely on an amusing as well as educational story. Any story feature Buster in his detective mode, however, is in a class of it's own.

Buster gets a detective kit and starts looking for a mystery. He even gets really into the role, donning a coat and fedora. At first, though, he can't find a mystery. Then, Arthur is accused of stealing the quarters that he was collecting for the "Buy a Puppy For the Fire Department" project. Arthur knows he's innocent and so do we, so needs somebody to help him, giving Buster his first case. Solving mysteries though, Detective Baxter, soon learns, isn't as easy as it seems.

This book is enjoyable for readers of just about an age, assuming they've reached the reading level to read a 58 page story in chapter book format. For the best effect, watch the TV version of this story first and pay attention to Buster's voice when he's speaking as a detective. Then read the story using that style of voice.

An excellent Arthur mystery
This is a teriffic Arthur mystery. It has a good mystery, it has a smooth plot, and so what could be better? You have to read this book to see Arthur mysteries at their best.

Arthur and the Pen Pal Playoff

Arthur And The Pen-Pal Playoff
I read Arthur And The Pen-Pal Playoff. I think this book is great. I think little boys and girls will want to read this wonderful book. This book is great for nine year olds to read.
Little kids will want to read this book over and over again, it's an adventure. This is a way to keep young ones away from the TV. I do recommend this book.

Arthur Could Be Any Kid
When Arthur talks up his basketball skills in a letter to a pen-pal that he was assigned to write for class, he feels that he's in over his head. His pen-pal writes back that he's a great basketball player as well and then he learns that his pen-pal is the lunch-lady's grandson. Next thing he knows, Mrs. McGrady (the lunch-lady) arranges them to play a one-on-one basketball game. The thing that's great about this story is that it's a situation that many readers can identify with. Eventually, Arthur's forced to face his situation head-on, but he's not the only one...

This is the last book of the "Arthur Good Sports" series. Whether any more books will be published in this series is not yet known, but the six-year 2001 set make a great addition to the "Arthur" series.

Arthur Decks the Hall: With Flaps to Flip and Stickers to Stick (Medium Sized Board Book With Stickers and Flaps , No 2)
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (September, 1998)

My 3 year old grandson loved this book.
My 3 year old grandson loved this book. He had such fun lifting the flaps and putting on the stickers. He has removed the stickers repeatedly and they still stick back on the pages. He still loves to lift the flaps after dozens of times rereading the book. I will be looking for more books with lift the flaps and stickers included. This is a wonderful book for a 3 year old.

Hands-on fun for Christmas
Our children, ages 5 and 21/2 love this book! They had a ball putting on the stickers (with a fair amount of parental supervision) and never tire of lifting the flaps on each page. I worried that after the "sticker fun" was over, they'd lose interest in the book, but they are still fascinated with their handiwork and enjoy the simple story of Arthur's Christmas. The artwork is fun and the book itself is quite sturdy - even in the hands of a toddler. We collect Christmas books and this is definitely one of the favorites for my kids.

Arthur in a Pickle (Arthur Step into Reading Sticker Book, paper)

Pickles, stickers and reading fun
This is a great book for teaching reading. Arthur is a favored character in our house , and the peel and place stickers really help little ones with the concepts of learning to read. It also has a whole sticker sheet that kids can illustrate their own story with. Marc Brown, through Arthur, can always view the world through a child's eyes, which helps parents to remember that things can seem alot different down there! I highly recommend this and all Arthur/D.W. books!

MY KIDS LOVE ARTHUR
MY KIDS LOVE ARTHUR AND HIS MANY ADVENTURES. THEY ESPECIALLY LIKE THIS BOOK AND THE PICKLE PEOPLE IN IT. THEY HAD ME READ IT 15 TIMES THE FIRST DAY WHICH PROVIDED AN AFTERNOON OF LAUGHS AND PICKLE GAMES.

Arthur's Pet Business

Excellent book on responsibility
What child hasn't asked for a pet at some point in their childhood. What an excellent way to teach responsibility. This book shows the parent how to test a child's readiness for responsibilities, while showing the young readers the perils and pitfalls of having one's own pet business, as well as the rewards, and entertaining us all in the meanwhile. Well done. It's also fun to look in all of Marc Brown's books and find the hidden names!

Being Responsible can be Fun !
I am in awe of how Marc Brown has simplified the concept of responsibility, so that it may be understood by my two year old daughter.

My two year old daughter summed this book up by saying; " Arthur showed his mommy and daddy he can take care of everyone's pets now he can have Pal . In my eyes that says it all !

The author has sucessfully done what was intended . He communicated an important moral concept to a small child , what being responsible is and how doing things morally right can be fun and rewarding.

Keep up the good work Marc Brown you are helping me communicate important moral, social, family, and educational values to my daughter. Great Books and Characters

Awsome!
This book is very good! we read it in reading at school one time!

Let the Aardvark beware
In this, another great book by Marc Brown, children can learn vicariously through Arthur about money management, and specifically, how hard it is to earn money and how easily it is lost. These, ( the Arthur and D.W. Books), are great books, and more up to date than most children's books.

Book Review for Arthur's Valentine
I liked the book because i can remember the first valentine that i received from a girl. I was happy like Arthur was, but didn't want everyone to know about it. In the story, Arthur gets a valentine from his secret admirer. He didn't know yet who it exactly was. He gets another one from the same person. The second one says for him to meet her at the movies. If you read this story, you will find out who sent him the valentine.

Teasing should be ignored.
When people tease you about things, it is best to ignore them and keep focused on your goal. I enjoyed this book very much.

As You Like It, Charlie Brown
Published in Paperback by Henry Holt (Paper) (June, 1964)
Author: Charles Schulz

Absolutely great!
This wonderful collection of Peanuts cartoons was originally published in 1964. As with other Peanuts books, this one has two strips of four frames each, all of then from 1963-64. Because of the date, Rerun isn't here, but just about all of the other Peanuts stars are - Lucy, Violet, Schroeder, and even Sally.

As with all of the Peanuts books, this one is absolutely great, and if you can get it, then do so! Among the many adventures that you will see in here are the group meeting a new boy named 555 95472 (5 for short - his Dad decided to surrender to the trend of reducing everyone to numbers), Charlie Brown getting "Little Leaguer's Elbow," and Snoopy surviving a flood (fortunately, his Van Gogh wasn't harmed).

Charlie Brown sure likes that little red haired girl...
"As You Like It, Charlie Brown" finds the Peanuts gang experiencing tragedy on a Shakespearean level in this collection of daily strips drawn by Charles M. Schulz in 1963 and 1964. You see, all Charlie Brown needs to do is hold the other team for one more inning and the team will win the championship. Meanwhile, Lucy has a desire to be called "cutie," Snoopy has to go to the hospital, Linus has to perform in the Christmas pageant, and Sally decides not to go to school (she went last year). However, the focus really is on Charlie Brown this time around, what with having a crush on the little red haired girl, having to feed Snoopy at suppertime, having "little leaguer's elbow," and receiving a bill from Lucy for $143 for psychiatric services including a slide show of all of his faults. And when the little red head girl comes to watch the baseball game it is the worst of both worlds. The sign of the times is the arrival of 5 95472 in the neighborhood; this is one of the few "new" Peanuts characters not to pan out, and represents that moment in history when the zip code was introduced into American culture. My argument is that the heyday of "Peanuts" started in the late 1950s and pretty much lasted the entire decade of the 1960s. However, I am pretty sure that "As You Like It, Charlie Brown" is the only Bard inspired title of a "Peanuts Collection." Consequently, you will not find "Much Ado About Snoopy," "All's Well That Ends Well, Charlie Brown," or "The Peanut's Tale."

Awakening Of Dr. Brown (Into The Heartland)
Published in Paperback by Silhouette (February, 1901)

POWERFUL EMOTIONAL READ!
This author proves again she is more than a category romance author. One of her most powerful books yet, The Awakening of Dr. Brown has a riveting story with characters to cheer for and care about. Real emotional baggage and conflict bring this tale to life, without the rough language or gore of many single title bestsellers. This one's a keeper, to be read and cherished again and again. It's part of SIM's "Heartland" series. I've read every one and strongly recommend them, even if you have to order from the out-of-print files.

One of the best romance novels I've read-and I've read alot.
This book was a heart-warming touching experience. The book is a story about a girl who although she's "lived," in another words, been around the block a couple times, is still a virgin at heart. With compelling characters that seem to jump off the page in 3D, this book really comes to life. You'll spend half of it crying, and the other half cheering them on. The book is full of twists that make it impossible to put down, and it ends with a copy of the song sung throughout the book. Always remember, "Hello is easy, Goodbye is hard, and it's what comes in between that counts."

Powerfull and Raw
A powerful book, raw and I found myself in it.

One tough woman
This book is a fictionalized account of Angela's life and her suffering from abuse, parental and then spousal. She overcame this cruel treatment to become a driving force in helping others escape from their own hell. Read it and learn.
